The Arab Political Science Network (APSN) announced and selected participants for its 2nd Research Development Workshop, which was scheduled to take place on June 5, 2020 in collaboration with the Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship at the American University of Beirut (AUB). However, due to the uncertainty and risks posed by COVID-19 pandemic, APSN decided to cancel all its planned in-person workshops, and offer virtual feedback sessions until its deemed safe to plan new in-person activities.

The 2020 workshop focus was on Citizenship, Legal Status, and the State in the MENA Region. The selected scholars and papers looked at themes such as

The impact of citizenship policies on the rights of women and/or minorities

Statelessness and rights of non-citizens 

Emigrant rights
