Annual Research Development Workshop
APSN organizes an annual research development workshop, which offers an opportunity for PhD students and faculty residing in ⁄ from the Arab region to receive constructive feedback on current research, engage in fruitful debates on some academic topics, and develop lasting scholarly networks.
The workshop will accept a limited number of article-length manuscripts (or a PhD chapter) written in Arabic or English, but not previously published and reflects one the themes of the workshop. This workshop will be held during the first half of the year (spring semester) and will be hosted by an educational or research institution in the Arab World.
Annual Workshop on Teaching Political Science
APSN organizes an annual workshop on teaching one or more topics in political science. The workshop aims to bring together a group of faculty members and specialized researchers from different countries and representing both public and private educational institutions to exchange experiences, discuss new and different teaching methods and develop curricula related to the topics of the workshop. This workshop will be held during the second half of the year (fall semester) and will be hosted by an educational or research institution in the Arab World.
ِAPSN offers two funding schemes (please note that the same scholar can not combine both grants):
- APSN offers ONE travel grant of up to $6500 to accepted panels at international and regional conferences such as the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association (APSA), International Political Science Association (IPSA), the Arab Council for Social Science (ACSS), Middle East Studies Association (MESA). Panel themes should be related to political science or one of its sub-fields focusing on the MENA region. Non-Arabs and non-residents of the region are allowed to benefit from this grant provided that their papers are accepted as part of the selected panel. The grant covers airfare, accommodation and meals but not conference registration or visa fees.
- APSN offers FOUR individual travel grants of up to $1500 for accepted papers at regional and international conferences. Authors must be Arab nationals with funding prioritizing scholars based in the region. Accepted papers should be related to political science or one of its sub-fields focusing on the MENA region. The grant covers airfare, accommodation and meals but not conference registration or visa fees.
